I searched the forums, but I could not find any information on this product. I am considering an external display for my Macbook 2 GHZ C2D, and I have leaned towards Dell over Apple for the cheaper prices. The one I am looking at is the E228WFP 22-inch Widescreen Flat Panel LCD Monitor ( http://accessories.us.dell.com/sna/productdetail.aspx?c=us&l=en&s=dhs&cs=19&sku=320-5205 ). My question is, what is the downside to going Dell over Apple? Do I need anything extra for it to connect? I use my MB for basic browsing, email, messaging etc. For $269 with free shipping, this sounds like a great deal.

My two cents if you are just wanting more screen real estate and based on what you are using it for you do not need to spend the extra to get the Apple display. That choice will suit you just fine.

As far as what else do you need to connect it, make sure you have a mini-DVI to DVI adapter and you are good to go.

None. DELL Sells Great Monitors

I'm an ALL DELL ALL THE TIME guy and I love them all. I have two 20" 1600 x 1200, a 24" 1920 x 1200 and a 30" 2560 x 1600 and they all look great and are far more feature rich than anything else out there with the exception of the HP LP3065 30" display.

They come with cables and you will be good to go. For the money that's a great way to go.

BONUS: The E228WFP's DVI port is also HDCP enabled unlike Apple's NON HDCP DVI inputs.

Thanks for the replies folks. It seems like a great deal, and I have been comparing prices with Viewsonic and for the same specs Dell seems to be about $50-75 cheaper.
