So a couple months ago I got a Galaxy Nexus for 2 weeks. I went from an iPhone 4 to 4S and then that. It was a great phone and I loved most things about it except the size. It was too big for me (yes.. that's what she said :p). I'm really getting bored of my 4S and iOS so I'm thinking of getting another Android phone but a smaller one this time. What is there in the 4.3" range that isn't too old and what's rumored to be released in that size range? I read one rumor that the Motorla Droid RAZR HD will be 4.3" and the leaked photos look good I must say.

I will almost definitely be rooting and flashing ROM's frequently and I don't know how that would work on a Motorola phone or whether Motoblur is a good skin or not. Your opinions please!

I know the S3 is bigger than 4.3 inches but what about that? If the iPhone 5 is a bust, I'm considering jumping ship and getting that (yes, yes I know)

The S3 is 4.8" which is even bigger than my old GNex! Not an option I'm afraid. It has a lot of cool features and I really like the design but it's just too big for me.

Turns out the Droid RAZR HD is also out. According to gsm arena it's going to be 4.6" and won't have the long battery life the RAZR MAXX does.. http://www.gsmarena.com/verizon_droid_razr_hd_to_feature_an_8_mp_camera-news-4653.php

I've almost given up on the iPhone 5 or whatever it's going to be called. If it looks anything like the leaked photos and concepts then I'm probably not buying it. iOS 6 was also disappointing and I don't know how long till there's a jailbreak for it and I don't know if I can go back to running stock iOS.

Yeah it doesn't look too bad. I like the Kevlar back.

I'm hoping Apple save a couple of hidden features as a surprise because iOS and the rumoured iPhone look pretty vanilla.

Granted I tried out some Android phones and they have that little lag before you do anything with them that's SO annoying.

I love the design of the RAZR MAXX and even the leaked photo of the RAZR HD. I'm actually considering checking out the prices of the RAZR MAXX tomorrow to see if it's worth using it for a few months till the next Nexus is out and the iPhone as well so I can see how I feel about it.

My Galaxy Nexus definitely didn't lag in anything I threw at it. I tried several different ROMs and I don't know if those affect the phones speed but none of them lagged.

The GS3 is 2-3 mm wider than gnexus. This might look comical to some, but those 2-3 mm actually made a difference for me. Holding a gnexus was more comfortable than GS3 for sure.

The GS2 was even better at 4.3.

It's not exactly lag, just a little stutter before you do anything with it. I noticed it in the Galaxy SIII while I was playing around with it.

Android has has some crazy specs in their phones as well so they can handle tasks better than iPhone I think.

The Razr Maxx is about the same size overall as the GS3. Dont even know what size screen it has but overall, its a big phone and as i said, about the same size as the GS3. I work with a guy that has one.

Try the HTC One S. It's 4.3.

Or the SGS2, which is at a good price unlocked right now and it's getting JB.

Its a shame we don't have a bit more selection of iOS phones, but I guess thats just the way the cookie crumbles.

Ever consider any of the Sony Android phones? Or LG?

They fit in the size range..

Buy the Sony Xperia S. It's going to be made into a Nexus device according to this article.

http://www.theverge.com/2012/8/18/3250768/google-experiment-aosp-sony-xperia-s

I don't think I've ever seen anyone holding an LG Android device so that must mean something :p

Before I started buying smartphones, all my phones were Sony Ericsson but I don't really like the look and feel of the Xperia.

Edit: seems like Sony is going to be releasing the Xperia SL soon http://www.engadget.com/2012/08/18/sony-xperia-sl-gsm-phone-official/
