So I’m considering an upgrade from my 12.9” original iPad Pro to the 10.5”. The 12.9 just gets a bit too heavy and “in the way” at times especially when using it for reading textbooks. Im wondering if this would be a worthwhile upgrade or perhaps hold off till next year?
I really like the 120 hz display, saw it in the apple store and was really impressed. Only thing is, will it ruin all other displays? Can anyone who has the iPad Pro 2 weigh in on this?
Lastly, if I do decide to get one, is Best Buy the best place for BF sales? Seems like they’re having $125 off; anyone know of anywhere cheaper than that?

I did this same exact upgrade in August and I've been very happy. I originally wondered whether I would miss the extra size, but very rarely do I miss it, and I love the lighter weight and increased portability of the 10.5. The only time I miss the extra screen size is when multi-tasking, but since I don't multi-task too often, it's not a big deal.

I suppose if you use the ASK then that is something to consider since the keyboard will be smaller, but I use the same magic keyboard I used with my 12.9 so no difference there.

If you live close to a Micro Center, they have $150 off the 64gb and $140 off 256gb right now. In store only

I have both and they have distinctly different uses, but if you have tried the 12.9 and don’t like it, I think the 10.5 is superb, just that little bit more screen size for not much extra weight or size, still highly portable. But for split screen work, watching movies, and a few other things I love the 12.9.

My progression was a bit bass ackwards. I went to the 10.5, returned it, for a 12.9 and finally went back to the 10.5.

What I found was the 10.5 was great, but the larger display proved to be a siren song for me. Almost the grass is greener mentality. Once I got the 12.9 I found it too unwieldy to use when holding it or traveling. I realized that 10.5 offered everything I wanted and needed and since getting back on the 10.5 I've been very happy.

Kinda feel like I’m the same track...had the Air 2, liked it but wanted to try the 12.9, now I feel like I would be better off with the 10.5 especially because of the weight and footprint.

I have the Air 2 and decided to upgrade and considered both the 12.9 and the 10.5. I went with the 10.5 after handling and trying out the 12.9 - it seemed a better fit for use in my hands. The 12.9 would make a nice desktop unit but for that I have a 13" laptop.

Had the OG 12.9” IPP with ASK, liked it but it was too bulky. Switched to 9.7” IPP, didn’t use it enough so gave it to my kid. Went months without an iPad and traded my old phone for a 10.5” IPP. I use it with an ASK and so far really like it. Perfect size IMO.

Yeah my usage was such that it was odd carrying the 12.9 around and holding it (as opposed to using it on the desk or lap) made it such that I felt the 10.5 was a better iPad for me. I have no regrets even though when you put the two together the 10.5 looks diminutive compared to the 12.9 :p
