Sitting here and reflecting about yesterdays events and after reading hundreds of posts of angry, pissed off customers, I started to think.

Do you think there was a reason that there was such a positive reaction at the event because SJ loaded the die? (cheated)

According to Engadet:
11:13am - Applause... "A lot of people at Apple have worked on these products. Some are here today, some are watching from our campus in Cupertino. I'd like those folks to stand up..." Wow, this is like half the audience.

If it had been a developer or press only, they might have booed or at the very least NOT clapped. I bet there was a meeting that told everyone to clap exceptionally loud during the price drop information.

What do you think? I know that if I was at the conference reporting and I had an iPhone (which I do) and they just told me that it was magically now worth $200 less, that I wouldn't clap, I might boo SJ.

If this is the case, then the crowd is nothing more than a marketing tool rather than an honest reaction.

Just food for thought. What do you think?

I think it's sad that the newbs have taken over by injecting bizarre conspiracy theories and whining about price drops and how it isn't fair...

EDIT: Aside from that, of course there are Apple people at these events. The media isn't supposed to yell and scream at every product announcement. It isn't objective journalism.

Oh for heavens sake! Of course Apple wants to show off their products and announcement in the best possible light. That's why they do offer the announcements as downloads. It is called PR…

And the development teams have always been part of the crowd. On quite a few occasions they have been asked to stand up and get acknowledged for their work.

No conspiracy… Apple is just a company making sure it will show a very healthy profit.

So Steve Jobs says the much desired iPhone is now MUCH MORE AFFORDABLE and you boo? HAHA.

That is the problem with some of you people, you hear it as Apple saying it is "worth less" now. It is not a freaking comic book or baseball card, which btw are only worth what someone is willing to pay for it.

iPhone is already outselling other phones in its class, now it will sell even more. That is GREAT NEWS!

It is illogical to want Apple to sell something more EXPENSIVE! lol, the irony.

How is it bizarre?

I am not whining at all about the price drop. I am simply wondering if SJ loaded the die.

If you don't have an opinion on the topic, then just pass on by.

I DO have an opinion on the topics...in fact I KNOW Apple loads their events with Apple people. All that whooping and hollering you hear on the stream is from Apple people. Reporters don't do that. They sit idly by and clap at the appropriate time. I've covered enough public and political events to know that.

Apple events aren't courts of law. There is no "cheating". It's a PR dog and pony show with magic and sparkles with a hint of smoke and mirrors thrown in. If you don't know that then you are completely diluted.

Um, the price reduction IS worth clapping about. It's worth being really excited about. The iPhones price dropped by 30% in about 2 months. If you don't own an iPhone (and maybe even if you do), this is GREAT news.

Don't think that everyone out there immediately thought "hey they're screwing over people who bought it a month or two ago", because they didn't. The only people upset by the iPhone price drop are the people who just recently purchased one and now feel slighted because the product is so new that they feel it shouldn't have gotten a price reduction yet.

There is no conspiracy. The event was held in San Francisco, so of course some Apple employees are going to show up.

Whatever dude. Apple events aren't courts of law. There is no "cheating". It's a PR dog and pony show with magic and sparkles with a hint of smoke and mirrors thrown in. If you don't know that then you are completely diluted.

Breathe brother.

I am not giving you a hard time. You have given your point of view. Thats all I asked for.

I just didn't want more "stop whining" posts. Thanks for your input.

I'm pretty sure you'll find that people did give their opinions above, just as you did - there is no need to call people dumb for expressing an opposite opinion to yours. Sorry to have a go, but that was unnecessary!

I think you have a good point about the crowd's reaction; I think I would be annoyed if I had just bought an iPhone then witnessed such a large price drop so quickly after launch.

However, if I was a journalist in that room yesterday who had not bought an iPhone, I think I'd be cheering :) Don't get into conspiracy theories is my advice, for what it's worth.

diluted?

homonyms and the intranets don't really go together, do they?

I purchased the $599 iPhone and I was happy when I saw that it was $399. I was happy that some of my friends could afford the iPhone and more people could have one. It was worth the $599 for me to have it early.

I am sure the employees are happy for Apple and are also Apple Fanboys too. The company is going against impossible odds against rivals like Microsoft, music industry and the sith, phone industry. I am sure they look up to Steve as their hero. This is completely normal.

Somebody is angry :D

It won't bring your $200 back though.

This is a regular thing, prices drop... that's life a time ago i bought a macbook for 1049 and a day later there was a new model... with the same price, my imac if i just waited a month it would be better and cheaper that's life. And apple is going to be very fare to pay the people who bought there iphones 14 days ago to give them back 200 $, i think it would be very rude to shout boo...

All the folks who purchased an iPhone for $499 or $599 must have thought it was worth that amount at the time or they wouldn't have purchased it. Nobody forced anyone to purchase the iPhone, thus the early adopters should still be happy with their purchase.

If Apple wants to turn around and sell the iPhone for $200 less or give it away for free that is totally up to Apple. It is Apple's product and they can do whatever they want with it. Consumers have the choice to purchase it or not purchase it.

I think we sometimes confuse Apple with a buddy, friend, neighbor, etc. Apple is none of the above. Apple is a corporation whose sole purpose is to increase their shareholder's equity and hopefully do so while being a good steward to the environment and their customers. But in the end, Apple is always going to do what is in Apple's best interest and this will not always coincide with everyone else's best interest.

Loaded what die?

This is the worst conspiracy theory since the moon landing ones.
