I put freezing in quotes because it doesn’t start spinning. I can move the mouse around. Everything on the computer just becomes unresponsive. No clicks registered, no data updated within windows (like if I have activity monitor open, the data just doesn’t update for 5-10 seconds) and nothing happens. I can’t minimize or close windows.

Does anyone else encounter this error? I have already done a factory reset. Then I reinstalled Monterey. This seriously seems to be a serious software error that should NOT be happening on a $3500 computer. I am not doing anything strenuous when this happens. 3 external monitors, few tabs and programs open, etc. Activity monitor shows absolutely nothing being maxed out (or even close to being maxed out, usually only at 25gb of ram, and most of that is cached files).

What is the deal with this? I am seriously considering asking apple to swap this for an M1 Pro and refund me because this is leaving a bad taste in my mouth. I am outside of the 14 days but this is a serious issue that shouldn’t happen constantly on a $3500 computer from light usage and web browsing. Something is really messed up here. If I wanted a dodgy user experience I could’ve just installed Linux for $0.

Sorry to rant, just frustrating. Anyone else having this issue??

Might be a hw issue if it's happening even after a clean install.

I have never. Froze this laptop (M1 Pro 16gig) . Only one time does it kernel panic when OneDrive was acting up. And force closing it just froze the whole system. Cursor doesn't move etc. But yeah that's about it

How full is your SSD? If it is nearly full you might see a freezing problem but other than that it sounds like a hardware fault.
