This message pops up every day to every few days -

Java.png

Clicking OK makes it go away and More Info takes me to -
Download Java for Mac OS X

The most current version is -

Java2.png

I started paying more attention to the version number and found that I downloaded this a few days ago but I keep seeing the message. Does anyone else see this and is there any way to stop it?

The version you downloaded was the JRE, which is just the runtime.

OS X expects the JDK.
It still confuses me even seeing it for the past decade, why the JRE alone is provided as an option for OS X.

Download the roughly 220MB JDK from the following link and install it:
http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/java/javase/downloads/jdk8-downloads-2133151.html

This is assuming you want/need to use Java.

If you do not, then another solution may be necessary, depending on what is trying to call the 'java' command line tool.

Thanks for the link! There are two versions there -Java SE Development Kit 8u91 and Java SE Development Kit 8u92. I installed both so I'll see what happens.
