So Ive had my Mac mini for about a month, completely in love with it Im not going to lie.
Used mainly for development - Xcode, sketch, etc.
So yesterday around 1pm, with nothing newly installed, no new devices or hubs or anything, I got my first reboot. As mentioned in many many other posts here and elsewhere. Pink flash - reboot. The logs are basically identical as many others have posted.
Since then, in the last 24 hours, it must have happened a good 30-40 times.
Sometimes 5 seconds after reboot, sometimes 10 minutes.
Seemingly completely random. Different apps running, different configurations (display on hdmi instead of usbc/DP, wired mouse/keyboard instead of unifying receiver or bluetooth, no usb devices connected, wifi/bluetooth on/off, etc etc).
I am a bit confused on how this could be software related as, like I said, nothing new installed, nothing new connected...

Anyone got something similar going on?

Also heard on some other forums 11.3 beta can fix it, but as luck would have it Im literally on the last few hours before submitting an app to the App Store, and Im not sure about having Beta installed and submitting etc. Those last few hours are now completely impossible though! ?

I don't really see the point of uploading logs, as they're basically identical to every other kernel panic post you can find on m1 posts, just unfortunately happening rather frequently..

this last one happened I guess as it was going to sleep or on screensaver, hence the "Panicked task 0xfffffe1675bb2550: 5023 pages, 7 threads: pid 745: iLifeSlideshows"
But it does it on basically anything, and will show the process there.
Some apps more than others, eg, safari, Xcode, rotato.

Need to point out, it crashed as I posted that last post..

If a clean install of Big Sur doesn't resolve it then something fried.

Was debating that, but what are the chances/risks of it happening mid install?
If there's a hardware problem, then there's a chance. If it's a software problem, then that should fix it.
Back everything up, clear all your files off, reinstall macOS (follow explicit instructions for how to do it on M1 Macs; it's different than Intel machines). If that fixes it, you're good to go. If not, time for a warranty claim.

After backing your data there are several ways to clean install either from recovery partition, USB installer or with Apple Configurator 2 from another Mac. If second and third options don't work then more reason to take it back to Apple and get it replaced under warranty.

You could try the latest public beta. I have just done that, because I experienced lots of process crashes (not Kernel panics though)

iLifeSlideShows is crashing it??

I thought that was the screensaver. Very strange.
Thats just the process that crashed on that occasion, it's every time different.

Anyway, taking the plunge now and trying a fresh install, fingers crossed it doesn't reboot midway ?...

I would go for the Beta, but I have an app submission to do (was planned for this weekend ?), and I think if I have any betas installed it'll get rejected

Well in case anyone’s interested - after fresh install the kernel panics are still there. Contacted support and they want me to send it in to be checked. I didn’t buy it directly from the Apple store so they won’t offer me a direct replacement without checking it first. So either going to send it back to the shop I bought it from or to them. I’m not sure which yet.

Just a couple of thoughts.
Do you use fast user switching? Maybe try without. See JFaughnan's post here
https://discussions.apple.com/thread/252504726

Also, have you run the hardware test? If not, try running that and see if a trackpad/keyboard error shows up.

It could be that a USB device (internal or external) is stopping sleep from transitioning.
Nope no fast user switching, and hardware turns up nothing. Tried different combos of Bluetooth, unifying receiver and wired mouse/keyboard. No change. Nothing else connected.
I even tried getting sidecar on my ipad running, disconnecting display and it still happened after a few mins clicking around.
I’m trying one last clean install now, and then it’s going back.

May be the best bet. Definitely shouldn't be happening like that. You might have gotten a lemon.
