I recently changed my Apple ID password.
Now on El Captain, under iCLOUD, it keeps saying "Enter your password to continue using iCloud. Verify the Apple ID password for xxxxxxxx@xxxx.com"

I keep entering the password, and it keeps presenting me with this message. Suggestions ? Happens on my iMac. My macbook pro, i do not have this issue. I use Malwarebytes to scan for adware, found nothing. If I sign out, it tells me i will need to create a separate password for this iMac

This issue is caused by a bug in OS X and, in my case, was an ordeal to resolve. :(

Try the following:

Note: The command specified in step 4 is comprised of multiple lines. When selecting a multi-line command, begin your selection at the beginning of the first line and end your selection at the end of the last line.

  1. If you don't already have a current backup of your data, then create one.
  2. Log out of iCloud, iMessage, and FaceTime.
  3. If your Apple ID is associated with your OS X user account, then disassociate it:
    1. Open System Preferences and then choose Users & groups.
    2. In the left pane, select your user account.
    3. Press Change password….
    4. Press Use separate password….
    5. Set a new password and make a note of it on paper.
  4. Open Terminal and then enter the following:

    mv "${HOME}/Library/Application Support/iCloud"{,~disabled}; \
    mv "${HOME}/Library/Preferences/MobileMeAccounts.plist"{,~disabled}; \
    rm -r "${HOME}/Library/Caches/"*
  5. Restart your Mac.
