Although it seems like it might be related to it all, still not quite sure why that would be connected to something like that.
Seems like there’s been a string of folks here lately being prompted to enter credentials frequently enough to bother them and they didn’t have 2FA enabled. Granted, I acknowledge I’m shooting from the hip here, since there are many variables unknown that could be causing the OP’s issue.
Right, not using 2FA seems like a something potentially related to it, just seems rather odd in terms of why that would actually be the case.
Sure, a clarification can't hurt, and looks like it was just provided by the OP essentially confirming what has been discussed. It seems that this is basically related to what a variety of others have come across as well:
