Constant Webroot warnings

MacOS 14.6.1.
Every time I turn on Mac, I receive 1-5 virus warnings. It is always from files in the /LaunchAgents folder. There are about
My other AVs, MalwareBytes, BitDefender do not find any viruses. I have seen 15 different files inside of that folder be flagged by Webroot. I don't want to turn on my Mac everyday and receive 1-5 warnings.

It's always frustrating to be concerned that one is not able to fully trust the contents of one's system.

I never take my personal security lightly.

FWIW, I run only MalwareBytes on my comps (and that's primarily to mitigate any weird items being introduced via Browser processes (there's some weird stuff out there)).

Honing to the Law of Averages (and the seemingly comprehensive approach you have been taking), it makes sense to me to believe the majority, and conclude that your Webroot results are the outliers.

It's not a given the Majority is always correct, but that--given your statements--if everyone else says that the sky is not falling, and only one is saying that it is, it may be that that one is in error.

Maybe.

I can say that the general consensus it to not combine/overlay multiple virii-detection softs, as they each really only adhere to their own interests, and often do not play-well-together amongst themselves

If you want to apply the Science of comparison, install/run each--separately--gather your data, and compile your results independently.

Microsoft has conditioned us to think we need 3rd party security software. Maybe you do if you run Windows. There is no reason to run it on your Mac.

But if you do, ONLY run one of them. Why? Because anti-virus software looks like a virus and they will all detect each other.

These useless AV software all look for things in the Launch Agent folder. And of course, they all find each other, Just a useless waste of time and money.

May I suggest you list them here. Otherwise uninstall Webroot. You really don't need multiple a-v products. You likely don't need any, but that depends on your threat profile.

Never run multiple AV's at the same time, they can and will cause conflict and damage file structures. Also macOS will run its own scans on the background anyway on newer versions of macOS since 2022
