I've got two issues here, one stemming from the other. Initially, I'm trying to get the "smaller image" version of the contact photo to show when a person calls, where it is in the upper right of the screen instead of the entire background. My understanding is that this has to be done by assigning photos not on the phone but in a contact manager program on the computer and syncing them over.

So, I load up iTunes, and select to sync with Windows Contacts (which is listed as being supported by the iPhone). This gets my contacts onto the computer without a problem. So, I delete all the contacts on my iPhone, set pics within Windows Contacts, and resync. All the contacts get over to the iPhone just fine.

Problem one is that for a contact that I had previously set a picture to on the iPhone, it still comes up as full screen background. Any thoughts as to why this is?

Problem two is a tad more confusing. A person called who's photo I had only set through Windows Contacts. Well, the first thing that happened was that the entire backround screen was corrupted. If you've ever seen old analog TVs hooked up to an antenna when the signal was coming in, where the picture is all diagonal and scrolling....it was like someone took the entire screen of the ipod, put in that effect, and made that the background. When I actually answered it took a good seven or eight seconds to connect, at which point the picture righted itself.....with the contact photo as the entire background. Now, when I view the contact in the Contact section, the photo shows up just fine in the little thumbail.

Does anyone have any ideas what might be causing the corruption, or what might be causing the phone to still show contact pics as full screen background? Any help would be appreciated!

For problem one, you will have to first delete the photo from your address book/contacts list on the computer. Then add a photo. Had similar issues before. This should fix the problem.

As for your second problem, I have no idea. Sorry.

Interesting. Took a contact that had never had an assigned photo, assigned a photo to it on the PC using Windows Contacts, then synced with the iPhone, selecting the option in iTunes to overwrite the iPhone contacts with the PC contacts. Photo synced fine, but when the contact calls, the photo still show up as the background. I think I'm gonna try restoring the phone next and see what that does.

As for your second problem, I have no idea. Sorry.

Found this one out, and it was my bad. I was pulling the photos from my digital camera directory, and so I was using photos that were 2272x1704! When I cut them down to a more manageable size the graphical issue ceased. So at least it's one thing found!
