I currently have verizon wireless and my contract is not up until december...would it be possible to contact at&t to see if they will cover the cost of canceling the contract if I start an account with them? Anyone ever done this?

I have heard of them doing this before....

pay me 175 I pay them 700/year for service

I've heard of this too, but do not know if it is true. Did you ever find a solution?

ATT employee here (Bellsouth employee - Combined billing center)

There are 'rewards' that one can get for signing up for new service with ATT. But, no, they will not outright buy your contract from another carrier. Nor will they pay you to do so. They will offer rewards (most of the time it is in the neighborhood of 75.00) and what you do with that money is your business.

Thanks for the response Tom, Ill have to go in and see what AT&T offers me

poppe-havent tried yet but hoepfully within the next week. One thing Im going to try is I have heard if I ask for a hard copy of my contract and they cannot provide it I can cancel the service. Also my current phone is broke, and has broke atleast 3 times, so I do not want to sign a new contract for a new phone so Im gonna see if I can talk them into letting me out maybe for a smaller fee or something.

Oh damn... Is that 75.00 upon the free phone or discounted phone you get?
