Right then, it seems that my contacts weren't syncing to my iCloud, so I checked the settings and indeed, I had the incorrect option selected, being in settings for contacts, the default account was my university email account rather than iCloud...

Having just changed this to iCloud and backing up, it seems that my contacts have not been imported into iCloud online however a few amendments such as name changes have been changed...iOS 7.1

How long does it take? It seems all my additional contacts haven't been refreshed yet.
Thanks in advance

If you can see the correct contacts at icloud.com, suggest you remove and re-add iCloud accounts on any devices and allow a fresh sync to take place.

I can't thats the problem, the correct contacts aren't showing on iCloud.com ...

Unless you've moved the contacts from the university account to your iCloud account they won't show up. Changing the default contacts account does not do an export/import.

Oh. Well, not sure there. If you have copies on a Mac/PC, you can import your contact list as a vCard via iCloud.com. Then the truth store will contain the latest on the web.

I always also recommend weekly backups of contacts, calendars, reminders, notes, and other data...I do these every Sunday to Dropbox. That way, if the cloud goes poof, at least I can restore a relatively recent copy.
