You can delete a number within a contact without clicking the edit button on contacts.

Is this a bug or feature?

Either one depending on your perspective ;)

Given that you need to slide your finger to the left to be presented with the delete button, its not a bug but a feature. Yes its inconsistent with the UI but is a feature.

If it were a bug, then accidently hitting something that deleted the number would occur. You still need to overtly act on the the choice of tapping the delete button or not.

ha ha. True. I don't know if I like it. I only found this my trying to copy and paste a number in my phone book but obviously it dialed the number lol

How? I view a contact and there is no "Delete" by any number?.

View a contact, then swipe your finger from left to right on the number you would like to delete. It's the same motion as if you were deleting an email. The delete button will appear after that.
