Contacts lost after update to 10.12.4

All my contacts have been lost after update. When I went to Contacts pref only showed possible source as 2 email addresses not "on my Mac'. Apple support hasn't figured it out yet, so today reset the pram and now ON MY Mac source for contacts has reappeared but still no contacts. I am not using icloud by the way. Also when I go to time machine I can all my contacts up to last backup on 3/11 but when I hit restore they disappear and screen is same as it was before. Any ideas?

As far as I know, this online contact management software gives you a chance of restoring your contacts. I haven't tried it by myself yet, but heard many great reviews on it

Any updates on resolution? I'm looking at moving from a MP running 10.11 to a MBP running 10.12. The MBP can be downgraded to 10.11 (rMBP 2015) and will do that if needed.
