Contacts not syncing on new iPad?

My iPad mini 6 won’t sync contacts to messages. The texting works fine but it just shows phone numbers. I’ve had it for two weeks and it’s been connected to wifi while charging and fully charged. What do I need to do? I looked at settings on my phone, iCloud, and iPad, and they all show the switch for co tact’s selected on

Are the contacts showing in the Contacts app, with phone numbers? If not, probably your iPhone is also synced to some other service in addition to iCloud, and that’s where the contacts are stored.

What other service would this be? I have contacts selected on the phone and the ipad

Try signing out / back in iCloud on both devices.
