I purchased the new M1 Air today and my messages app is not show all the contacts on my iPhone. It has a few random ones but none that I've tried to message. I've checked the contacts settings on both the M1 and the iPhone and both have the iCloud option selected. They are both using the same account as well. Other items have synced like some photos, etc. So I went into iCloud on the MacBook and deselected photos and messages since that's about 120GB and I didn't know what order it went in. I have contacts selected. I can see messages I send from my phone pop up on the MacBook but it's just phone numbers and not the contact info. Can you guys help me figure this out before I send the wrong message to the wrong person lol. I have bandwidth+ installed and right now it's showing 0kbps of network use so it's not trying at the moment to sync anything.

This happened to me for the first day or two of owning the M1 but also the first day or two of owning other Macs in the past. I think it just takes time for everything to settle into place in terms of indexing, syncing, etc...

Purchased the new M1 on Dec 23rd. The set up was seamless except for the synchronization of contacts from my iCloud account. This post seems to be one of the only other instances I can find online. Hopefully additional info will present itself here.

Do all your contacts show on iCloud.com? If so, try signing out of your account / and back in on the M1 and see if that solves the problem. A lot of times it does.

Mine did eventually sync but felt it was really stupid because I have a 1 gigabit connection at home and it waited 3 days to finish doing it. I wonder if apple has some type of bandwidth limits.
