Contacts pictures missing from Google Contacts Sync

Mac OSX Mountain Lion (10.8) / Contacts

ISSUE:
Using Contacts (previously Address Book) and syncing with Google Contacts (Prefences>Accounts>check Synchronize with Google).

Contact pictures are missing from Apple Contacts. The pictures are in Google Contacts without issue. Google Contacts also syncing with 2 iOS devices (pictures are fine) without issue. Leads me to believe that it is something specifically with Contacts/Address Book.

(Note: can add pictures to Apple Contacts and they show up in Google Contacts. After a sync, some disappear from Apple Contacts. All pictures stay in Google Contacts. Also, some pictures added in Google Contacts not coming over to Apple Contacts.)

Have tried resetting Sync History.

Also: tip for those having problems syncing anything at all (not just pictures) in Contacts with Google Contacts:
Delete or rename/move:
~\Library\Application Support\AddressBook (this file has a longer name with weird extension)
~\Library\Preferences\com.apple.Addressbook

Google Contact Pictures

I am seeing the same generic thing. Now the contacts app in Mountain Lion wants to sync with my Google contacts and it looks like I am going to lose over 260 contact pictures from Google. I don't want to sync and lose the pics. Any advice is great, thx.

Also having the “Sync and lose your photos” issue.

Have had 10.8 installed for several weeks now, just got the Sync warning today.

i got it fixed.
1. First unclick the "synchronize with google" in contacts settings on your Mac.
2. Delete all your google contacts
3. Go to System preference>Mail, Contacts&Calendar>Add Other Account>Add a CardDav Account>
user name is ur email address, server address is google.com

However, I do find the method has its issue as well.
I found out that some of my contacts that I use their own gmail/google profile pic as their gmail contact pic, don't have profile pics in Contacts on Mac while their pics do show up in Messages App on Mac. That's a weird bug.
