Content managaement system advice

i'm looking for a good content management system that will integrate seamlessly with my php website: grupenet.com/jasonbot/main.php

DOes such a content management system exist? I just want to place it on the main page so that various people can add posts. etc.

I was thinking about wordpress but that wont integrate nicely afaik.

Nothing will integrate as well as a CMS that you wrote yourself.

You can use Joomla, or Drupal, but like the above said, its better to create your own. Its pretty simple too

sounds like you're really just looking for a comment system. there was a question about one on here a few weeks ago. search for it and i bet you'll find a great solution.

http://disqus.com is pretty cool for comments, It will let you use whatever CMS you want, including anything you have written yourself. It just uses a little bit of javascript.

I am currently using that on my blog until I get around to writing my own comment system.

good advice. most tumblr users implement that on their tumblelogs since tumblr doesn't have it's own comment system. i'd say that is your best bet unless you want to write one, which wouldn't be too hard or time consuming.

maybe expression engine? you could quite easily and quickly transfer the design and content to it

You can use this great, free HTML Editor to easily create your own simple CMS. I've used this in several PHP apps I've written and it works quite well. And the price is definitely right!

Custom is really the smoothest and most nicely integrated way to do it...I wrote a custom php CMS for a client quite a while ago and have simply reused the tedious-to-write bits of code and stuff from it for projects since then. Making it custom once has saved me huge amounts of time since, and given me the confidence to make further custom content management systems.

You'll avoid bloat from useless features and never be scared to dive right in and make changes to the system.

Otherwise wordpress is pretty customizable and generally easy to use, though, in my opinion, kind of bloated.

TinyMCE is also very good. The only thing FCKeditor has over it is the ability to actually manage files on the server. However I wrote my own image upload and management plugin for TinyMCE to make up for it. There is also something out there that ported the file management part of FCK over to tinyMCE...

I found that TinyMCE is more compatible with Safari.

You should try both, as both are free...

Thanks guys, I really like that DISQUS thing but The porblem is I can't even set up the wordpress blog to begin with... See i'm just using some temporary hosting at the moment.

The church will be paying to host the site, should I request a cpanel host to make the wordpress thingies a lot easier?

A cPanel host might make it a bit easier to actually install Wordpress, but for the most part, once it's installed, hosting doesn't make any difference (as long as it is good quality hosting with dependable SQL database management). I am a big Wordpress fan myself, love it's flexibility and have learned alot in the past few days about tweaking it to use as a CMS. You can see what I've done with it here:

That isn't a plug, just an example. It isn't nearly as complex as WP has the ability to be, especially once you learn to add widgets anywhere within the site. The top spot on the left just rotates a random post from a selected category, which is kind of cool. I have another site where it has that and also shows the most current two posts from another category in a different spot. The possibilities are endless, really. I can recommend a good and inexpensive host, but not sure what the rules are as far as that kind of thing goes so if you want some info, just PM me.
