Continuously orange flashing AirPods & only one earbud works at a time.

I’ve had AirPods for a couple years and and never really used them. Decided to charge them up and give them a try. When earbuds in charging container they flash orange 100% of time. When I take one out of charger and put in ear it makes the notice sound that working and charging container goes to solid green. When I take second earbud out it makes no positive notice sound. When I try to play, only first earbud I pull out works. When I repeat and pull out non-working side first, then it works but second earbud I pull out that worked last time now doesn’t. I’ve tried cleaning ports with isopropyl. I’ve tried resetting charging device multiple time and deleting device multiple times from my iphone. Nothing seems to work to her both AirPods working at same time.
