Control Center → swipe right - also for Spotify and podcasts?

Quick question.
In the control center you can swipe right to get into music playback.
How hard coded is this menu for the stock Music.app?
Or does it work just as fine with my Spotify or OvercastFM app (with album arts etc)?

It works with Spotify and Overcast, including showing album artwork. Basically anything that would show artwork and media controls in the lock screen show up just fine in the control center page.

I'm not aware of any new APIs for third party scrubbing, but if there are, it requires app changes as it's not supported by eg Spotify yet.

Thank you. While we're on the topic of new API, do you know if developers can now use Picture in Picture for non quicktime videos such as mkv,avi..

I was hoping that was because it hasn't been updated yet, and that its finally possible for developers to implement. Will have to dig deeper into the documentation I guess.
