For some reason, when I use the keyboard shortcut "control + tab" instead of cycling through tabs, it opens the search bar at the top. If I press "control + tab" again it will cycle through, but each time I land on a tap it opens the search bar.

Please advise how I can stop this. I'd much rather just cycle through the Safari tabs. Thank you!

I think what you want is Command + Tab to scroll through open applications. My bad...re-read your question. Yes, Control + Tab scrolls through open tabs. Works for me: 2017 MBPro macOS Monterey 12.1 w/ Safari 15.2 Check if you have any Safari extensions which might be interfering? See if you've mapped 'Search' to something different in SysPrefs. For me 'Search' is Command + Spacebar.

Thank you! I figured it out. In system preferences, I had "tab + control" as a keyboard shortcut. When I deleted that shortcut, I guess Safari reverted to its default for switching between tabs which is "tab + control". All good now.
