Recently installed Parallels and am impressed. I've installed a relatively old game Streetfighter IV and want to try playing it with a control pad. Need something hassle free preferably, however, I also want this pad to work on newer games like Streetfighter V when it comes out in a year or later.

I've read some comments about compatibility which has made me think it's not as simple as I first thought, so thought I'd pop in here to get some advice from more experienced users.

I use an Xbox360 wireless controller, for that you will need one of those wireless adapters, also you need to download and install into windows the microsoft Xbox360 controller software, also set Parallels to use the adapter from the drop down menu's.

The bit I do not get is that everytime I start Parallels I have to choose the adapter in the drop down menu.

Parallels will not automatically 'steal' a device from Mac OS in case you're actually using it for something.

Anyway, any controller that works well with Windows and the games in question. When you use it with Parallels, it basically plugs straight into the Windows machine so Mac compatibility is irrelevant. So you'll just need a pad that is known to work with both games.

As said by Washac, an XBox 360 controller should do the job. I prefer the wired one myself, as it has slightly better compatibility if you then use it in Mac OS, especially with games made by Aspyr.

How where ? Been trying to do that, bet I am missing something really obvious.
Parallels > Preferences, then select "Devices" in the toolbar.

And that's where you change that behaviour.

That's it job done, said it was something obvious that I had overlooked.

Thanks :)
