Are there good apps for logging into and viewing or managing a Mac from an iPad?

Thinking about it because I’ve just started a time machine backup on my Mac upstairs, and don’t know if it’s progressing nicely or if I’ll go up to a message saying the drive is too full or it’s failed. Obviously lots of other use cases as well but that’s what prompted the question.

These should be built in applications that achieve the feature, but Apple locks all of them away from consumer. As of now, various remote control solutions are the better bet. I use Splashtop.

MacOS comes equipped with a built-in VNC server (enable Screen Sharing in System prefs-> Sharing; or Remote Management works as well).

Then you can access it with any VNC client, though their performance varies, especially once you start using the Magic KB/Trackpad. I had to dump VNCviewer and bought Screens, to get better usage out of the MK...

I use this too, have for years. Works really well on the same WiFi network; haven’t personally tried the remote (over the internet) connectivity.
Have used it over cellular when out and about. Works well. Obviously depends on your macbook/imac being connected to wifi and is open. The only drawback is you don't hear any audio when remote working e.g. if wanting to say do work on final cut you wont be able to hear the audio.

Just to note that Jump Desktop will reroute Mac audio as well while logged in remotely.
