I’m leaving iPhone behind.
I became a huge iOS fan due the convenience; the biggest convenience being the Apple Watch.
It all started with the Apple Watch 3. By this time my wife and many others convinced me to get Spotify, because it was convenient-I did. It was extremely convenient: it made playlists that I loved and allowed me to even download them for my train rides.
I never cared for the fact that Apple Watch required Apple Music (AM) to use that convenience, I just subscribed as well. Eventually I realized I had a **** load of subscriptions that I never consciously thought about:
iPhone x $30 a month
Apple Watch series 4 (upgraded) $25 a month
AirPods (not a subscription, but overpriced imo) $169
AM student price $10

I’ll save the rambling cause I can go on forever- apple incentives subscriptions that we never needed.

i used to torrent albums and if I liked them I would either buy the artist’s merch or album later on. I would torrent books and buy the hardcover if I liked it.

im going to invest in the next iterations of android (because the 5nm chip and oems are now promising longer support). I’ll keep my MacBook because it’s the best for software engineers and casual video editors. I’m writing this post not to bash apple but to encourage caution when going into the “ecosystem”. Yes apple offers the best hardware out there but at a premium only professionals should pay.

Im sort of confused by your argument. The iPhone and Apple Watch are not subscriptions, you bought hardware and decided to make monthly payments. Are you doing the same with your android phone?

Actually the only subscription you mentioned is Apple Music, but you want Spotify, which is also a subscription...

In general the subscription based payment of everything is sometimes harmful because people lose track.. just not sure why you only blame Apple for this. Geez, Microsoft office and Adobe Photoshop are subscription based now..

What does this even mean? My wife uses an iPhone, in-laws use iPhones, my parents use iPhones, my relatives all use iPhones, all of my friends except 1 use iPhones. I’m willing to pay the premium in order to use Airdrop, iMessage, FaceTime, simple group messaging. Walking the dog and leaving my phone at home just using the Apple Watch is great.

Value is subjective. Who is anyone on here to say what is and isn’t worth it to other people? Enjoy Android, it’s great, but you’ll be back.

I don't know if I understood the OP correctly but I have my thoughts about it.

It is very convenient to use many Apple devices, I started with iPhones myself, then I bought an iPad, a keyboard for it, then I ordered a Mac mini. For technical reasons, I had to return it, but then I realized that my costs increased enormously, but my needs did not.

I have justified the need for an MBA in hundreds of ways, but it is a specially badly designed computer. So maybe MBP? Ok, but cables, adapters, Apple Care - this cost cannot be justified in my situation. If this equipment was to be used in my business - ok, maybe it will earn for itself. But for fun?

If I go somewhere - on a bicycle, in the mountains - I don't want to be disturbed.

Wait, you subscribed to spotify, then Apple music, and you complained about too many subscriptions? Can you just cancel one of them? ?

And not sure what does your justification of torrenting have anything to do with Apple...

It sounds to me like this guy likes to hear himself ramble about nothing. He finances his Apple gear and then blames Apple because he has to pay for it. Surely this post is a joke.
