So for some reason last year I bought my iPhone 11 Pro on the iPhone Payments plan and not IUP. I don’t remember why, probably because I usually only upgrade every two years. But looking at the 12 Pro I really want to upgrade this year and I’m not sure the best way to do it. I still owe about $400 on my current phone since I’m only halfway through. Is there a way to convert to IUP? Maybe take advantage of the ATT promo deal? I am currently on ATT with an unlimited plan. Trade in my 11 Pro or sell it? Any thoughts or advice?

I did this last year on one phone by accident. I went to ’trade up’ and saw it wasn’t eligible and then saw on my invoice that it wasn’t the ‘upgrade’ plan.

You can pay it off (I called the Citizen One number and did a payment for the balance using the automated phone thing).
Then you can trade it in OR sell it yourself. I don’t know if the ATT deal works for you, but once you pay it off, it’s yours to trade in or sell.

I planned to buy one of my trade ups anyway to hand it over to family, so it wasn’t a big deal for me.

In any case, if you want to do IUP, you need to do a ‘new‘ IUP purchase. You can do that to get preapproved before tomorrow’s order but I don’t know when preapproval closes.
IMHO, the Trade Up gives you the most flexibility but I’m not one to want to deal with selling and with all the Trade ups in the market, the value isn’t really much better after a year.
