Converting all iTunes purchases to MP3?

Long story short; I bought a 16GB flash drive to put in my USB inside my vehicle. Transferred all songs from iTunes and car can only read MP3 files. I converted all my files to MP3, but now i have doubles and even triples of files in my iTunes library. Is there an easier more organized way of doing this? I will not go through and click "get info" on every song and see what is MP3 and what is not.

Do you want to get rid of the AACs? If so, and if you've converted the whole library then right-click the column headers, add Kind, sort by it, select all the AACs and mass delete.

If you want to keep the original AACs then you can probably make a smart playlist with the Kind filtered to MP3.

Did what? If you deleted the duplicates they'd be gone .

You do have "Kind" showing in your column view, right? If you just click the column heading it will sort them by type. Then just select all that you want to delete and do it.

iTunes also has "Show Duplicates." If you do that, and then sort by kind, it should give you the ones that you need to delete. To be on the safe side double check it. iTunes lags in that it still doesn't have an export feature to easily copy songs out of the library, even when there are not any DRM issues. But you can drag them from the iTunes window to a folder on your desktop. Go figure. If you do this, you may have to do some messing around to get them in a format that the other player can use. One way to deal with that is to make a copy of your iTunes library with JUST the MP3s. Then go into the iTunes Media folder itself since the music is organized by artist>album.

Or maybe someone has an application to do this?
