Converting Illustrator CS file to PDF error

I was wondering if anyone knows why I can't export Illustrator file , originally saved in.ai to .pdf format. All I get is an an unknown error has occurred, but also I get another error message when I try to save any Illustrator file " Can't save preview, but all other information was saved succesfully. The file couldn't be found." ID= -43

Can anyone help??

I have the following settings in Illustrator CS 11.0
Compatibility Acrobat 5 PDF 1.4
Preserve Illustrator Editing
Embed Page Thumbnails
Optimize for Web view
View PDF after Saving.

Not sure what else I'm doing wrong???

I have had this problem on occasion when working off of a server instead of the desktop. Any chance you're working off of a server? I've also had the same error when items were locked.

Edit - I forgot to say that every time I have had this error the resulting PDF has looked fine and has opened in everything I need it to (Acrobat/Illustrator) so I guess it's just another delightful AI bug.

No, Im not working from a server, and the item is not locked!
I've also checked to see if the file was saved...nope!

Any other ideas?
