iPod Converting mp3 or m4a to .aac?

Anybody know how to convert mp3 or m4a to .aac without destroying the quality.

Trying to bluetooth files to my phone but the max size it will allow me to receive is 0.5mb

You can't. Encoding from an already lossy source will reduce the quality

Btw: m4a is aac.

This is what I did. I made a song in garageband that I wanted to transfer to my RAZR. So when I imported it into iTunes, it went into iTunes as an aiff(or whatever that is). So I went to iTunes>Preferences>Advanced>Importing>then change the encoder thing fromt he drop down menu to whatever you want. HOpe it works.
