hi guys, before anyone decision to remove this post... i am not asking how to do illegal backup... I recently went to japan and brought a set of limited edition of animation "Ranma 1/2"4 box set DVD, but I dont want to carry around those dvd and I like to watch it when I have some spare times, I want to know is it possible to convert those dvd to either quicktime or realplayer format so that I could watch it with my 12" pbook.. which software do I need?

I have run into the same delema. I want to use these movies for the same purpose, but the procesess I have found have been more time involved than I feel is worth it. Everything I have found takes you doing at least 2 conversions to get the final output. and these take hrs (atleast on my 400 MGZ G4)!!! I haven't tried it in a while just cause it was so frustrating for me. I don't know what else to say besides check versiontracker. I think you can find what you need there. as I recall, your options were only getting it to avi if you were lucky. I was only ablt to get it to another format (i can't recall which sorry) then was only video. then I had to try to get the audio. then mix them and try to convert them to something else. I do recall another app that let me go directly to avi (if I recall), but was a little choppy and didn't work for all. Sorry I am so vuage here, but I honestly don't recall the details, execpt that hassel it was!

You need... DVD Backup and Forty-TwoDVD-VXPlus

Backup your DVD to your drive using DVD Backup. Works great! And, you can play the backup directly from your drive, complete with the DVD menus, etc., as if it were an actual DVD... http://www.wormintheapple.gr/macdvd/DVDbackup.html

If you want to save room on your drive then just compress the Video_TS folder into a .avi using Forty-TwoDVD-VXPlus... http://www.kaisakura.com/. This works great and produces in-sync results in a single process.
