Not sure if this is the best place to put this. But anyway, I have a problem. I need to find a way to automate (as much as possiable) ripping over 500 DVDs (Yes, its my collection) to create a sweet entertainment system. Disk space isn't the issue I am worried about, I have guesstimated that each DVD will take 3GB to 4GB. I am building up a large data store for this (3TB or so).

So, does anyone have any suggestions on how I can make this as painless as possible ? I do have multiple computers (only 1 Mac) that I can use for this. Any of them can be Linux or Windows (prefer Linux). I need to find a way to take a DVD, drop it into the drive and have the rest of the process finish it self. It can be either by seperate programs called from scripts or 1 program. I want things like "DVD art", description tags (Don't know what they are called for video, id3 for MP3), and a file name that has something to do with the movie. For example, Voltron_1_12 (Volume 1, episode 12).

To make things even more interesting, is that more then 60% of my collection is cartoons or TV shows. Each with many episodes per DVD.

Does this sound totally crazy ?

Any resources would be helpfully.
