iPod Converting Playlists for use in car stereo

Does anyone know of an application that will convert playlists (containing tracks of various formats) into mp3s and save the playlist in a folder on my desktop or an external drive?

iTunes can do this (converting to .mp3); it's an option from the main menu. Once that's done you could save them to the desktop.

I know how to convert to AAC but I can't see an option for converting to MP3? Does this change the format of the source music file? Ideally I'd like to retain the source file in its current format and then export the whole playlist to a new location as MP3s. Is that possible with your solution? If so how do I do it?

If you change your import preference to mp3 instead of AAC, that option will change in your menu. It will convert at whatever your ripping setting are. It will leave your original version right where it was.

What media are you using in your car stereo? You can just burn the playlist in iTunes.

I think the OP question still stands...

I tried to burn an MP3 CD for my car last night from a playlist, iTunes gave me an error with resepct to those files not already in mp3 format.

Is there a way for itunes to conver to mp3 on its way out the door to burn on the CD?

Third party software reccomendations to do this or to burn to mp3 file on CD from whatever file I have now? AAC?

Should I batch convert every song I have to mp3 to avoid this in the future? If so, what's the best way to do this?
