converting video question

im new to this converting thing. so all i need to do is get one of these converting software. and then i choose a file(can i use purchased iTunes movies and tv shows?) and then convert them to a certain size? can the size be reduced? will the quality stay the same? sorry im new to doing this. if anyone can explain it would be greatly appreciated! thanks

iSquint/VisualHub/Quicktime - converting video files to an iPhone playable format (I often use the Video to iPod setting in Quicktime, I'm sure they will add video to iPhone eventually)

thanks so much guys. so can i use purchased iTunes movies/ tv shows also? will this reduce the size(1.07 gb is alot!) what about the quality?
