My devices iPhone 5 (6.1.3). iPad 4 (6.1.2 for now).

I've thought about jail breaking one or both but.... I'm worried about running into a problem. I need them to operate without any issues all the time.

I just came across the Emoji keyboard tonight so I'm figuring there are a bunch of other interesting hacks that can be done without jailbreaking. Idid some searching but most of what I found is for jailbroken devices. Wouldn't mind that if it would be 100%.

Thanks!

There really is no way to modify how the iPhone works without a jailbreak. Apple is very restrictive of users being able to modify the phone's OS (which is why the latest jailbreak took so long after release of iOS 6). If you're looking to modify your phone, jailbreaking is going to be your only option.

I have had every iPhone I own jailbroken and have never encountered an issue where the phone didn't work, so you shouldn't run in to ANY issues if you choose to jailbreak your phone.

Clearly this person is not ready for the jail-breaking world.

I'm probably not! :)

While scanning through the forum I see a lot of posts from people that can't do this or that or they don't have certain icons or things in there status bar that are supposed to be there so jailbreaking down't seem to be perfect. I know there are a LOT of benefits so I'm not doubting that. I've modified cars for most of my life so I know that the rewards can be worth it but sometimes there are issues.

stiflestand lets you hide the newsstand app in a folder, and carriereditor lets you replace the carrier name in the status bar.

but really, jailbreaking is well worth the effort... :D

I feel pretty aweful for not elaborating as my initial reply as I look at it comes across as crass, so my apologies.

What I should have said is that jail-breaking is not for everyone as it requires some work to allow the tweaks to work due to compatability tweak issues therefore requiring a little homework and effort to work with it.

Some are just happy in downloading everything in site and then wonder why things glitch and stability suffers. Obviously this doesn't happen to everyone who downloads tweak upon tweak !

Those that are willing to work with their device thrive.

Take care.

Thank you for the detailed explanation! When I do get an interest in something, I throughly research it inside and out so if I decide to do it, I should be very informed :)
