I'd really like to see someone release a glossy black cover for the lower front of the 2009/2001 imacs. I find the aluminum bezel to be a little too bright when compared to the black around the screen/glass.

I may just pick up some black vinyl and go to town ;)

Here's a mockup of my idea....

Sweet looking

Ok just finished the black frame decal and it looks VERY good....I didnt just grab a sheet of vinyl and stick it on there I actually have a vinyl cutter that I designed it on and cut it out with. Of course it required a little trimming on the round corners but besides that its stick and play....
I could produce these for a small fee but I dont know the forums rules on members selling stuff.
I have a small graphics business and dont want to step on any toes....

Well this is what she looks like..... Excuse the super glare lol from the flash:D

While I like the gloss black I think i am going to try some of this Matte finish 3M doc cf fiber vinyl I have used on alot of things with good results its expensive stuff but its so much better than that cheap looking CF junk people use and sell. I think it would add another dimension to apples already killer design.

That looks like crap! sorry

Thats cool everyone is entitled to their opinion I think it looks good and not cheap at all. The first picture I would say looks better but that is because it is a photoshop and you can play with the transparency of the black layer. Which isnt possible when working with the real materials. Unless it were some sort of clip on plastic like the covers for the laptops.

i think the fact that you let the aluminum show through the vinyl makes it look very amateur. Try again?

or just cover the bottom portion completely with the black vinyl and find a metallic apple applique to stick on in place of the original

+1

Looks like a bad tinted window job.... I see where the direction was going but honestly it falls short. Makes it look like a Cheap Dell monitor or something......

Apple has it's design down pack, this is something you should leave for the pros.

You should have cut the bottom off after you applied it so you wouldn't have that slim gap at the bottom and not drive yourself mad trying to perfectly apply a sticker. That and apply it a little high on the top where the glass meats the aluminum.

I'm indifferent to the circle and Apple circle, to each his own. That said, I'd prefer the black vinyl with a small white Apple decal sticker instead of the circle...or no Apple logo at all.

Interesting ok Im taking all these ideas and im going to go at it again will post pics of it later....Yes I agree apple did perfect their design no arguing that just wanted to try and create someones idea...CF vinyl is next with no circle

I gave it a whirl with the CF vinyl and it looks better but I guess the look cant be complete because the aluminum is where it is when it comes to the imac. Perhaps if it was offered in a matte black aluminum frame it would do us all well but nothing adhered to it will look factory.

mods can delete all these posts so we can keep it to just imac accessories:apple: like the OP intended.

hmm, I find it a little strange that nowhere sells decals for the iMac, pretty much every other iDevice has something for it
