So, I've been battling with IE overnight - I think I won (just the battle, not the war) - this time because of a semi-transparent png
. Anyway,
I came across this excellent fix not only for the png issue, but for most all other issues. It's a java script that the writer calls IE7, but it actually fixes earlier issues as well (trans pings are not an issue with 7). So, from Dean Edwards "a JavaScript library to make IE behave like a standards-compliant browser".
I hope posting this saves some poor wretch from going through the IE fix hell I've experienced over the last 48 hours.
