The have been widespread reports of overheating in the MBP.

It costs millions and months of development to design a laptop like the MBP.

With the Core 2 Duo on the way who would assume the the current MBP was designed to accomodate THAT chip?

The battery life is OK but the heating is a huge issue. I'm guessing that the MBP was designed initially to accomodate the C2D. Following from this, (and assuming some element of fact) could it be likely that we will see a very similar computer come WWDC?

Surely there will be development, but, how much?

I'm not so sure. I remember an engineer noting the mbp is poorly designed by engineering standards, which may have nothing to do with the chip. Or it might. I don't know. I'm pulling things out my butt.

I look at it this way: I'll get Applecare on my MBP a week before the standard warranty runs out, and if there are any problems from heat to be had, they should occur within my 3 years of coverage (1 original warranty year+2 AC)...with the level of use I'll inflict on the machine, I would be blown away if any major flaws don't reveal themseleves and thus get fixed under warranty...

Isn't there a rumor going around that there is going to be a new form factor when the MBP gets Core 2 Duo, since this current one seems to just be the old Powerbook casing with the Intel chip?

There have been a few solid sources that claim the MBP and Power Mac (i think it was the PM) are both getting a facelift very soon. Word on the street is that it will come from the MBP when it gets the C2D.
