Cooling my iMac

I have been using my iMac a lot, upwards of 8 hours a day and it normally stays on for days at a time. Having my room temperature around 24c, ripping dvd's and then converting them does not help much. Is there any product that wil help me with this issue, something like a jack for my iMac that has extra cooling.

I thought of getting an external DVD burner but i am not sure how much it will help.

Why even bother? If your computer isn't shutting down due to heat, it's not overheating. You could aim a fan at the back of it...

Do you monitor the temps of your iMac? If you are not seeing any problems then I wouldn't bother.

The back of the mac it pretty hot, I have never had any issue apart from loud fan noise that will be fixed after a restart.

My i5 gets hot while doing processor intensive work. I have always thought it was just acting as a big heat sync, being made from Aluminium.

Have you noticed any problems with your Mac?

Ripping DVDs will heat up the processor, and speed up the fans, but they should slow down once the system has cooled off. The back will get hot, since aluminum is a very good conductor of heat

install istat or temperature monitor to confirm internal temps.

if u r concerned, install smcfancontrol to increase fan speeds appropriately.
