I recently bought a new MacBook Pro, 13 inches.

It is completely different from a PC, so I am still going through a learning curve.

I thought that the apps on my iPhone, like Notes, would be coordinated with the MacBook. Apparently that is not true. Is it something that can be done, or am I wrong about this?

When I want to delete something, I have to click once for every deletion. Is there a way that I can change the function so the key deletes continuously, like it did on my PC?

When I migrated documents and downloads from my PC to my Mac, some shortcuts did not move, such as several WORD documents I created. Did they fail to migrate because they are a Microsoft product? Is there another way to move them to the Mac?

Thanks

Apple's Notes app supports iCloud, and using that you can access the same notes from both ends. On the Mac you'll want to go to System Settings and search for iCloud, then make sure that Notes is enabled (I'm running a slightly earlier version so the wording may have changed a little). If it's already enabled on the Mac, then make sure that it's enabled on the phone too.

What sort of "something"?

If you're talking about shortcuts as in links to files (known as "aliases" in MacOS), I suspect that the shortcuts expect the files to "live" in a particular place (C:\Users\something...). Since there's no such thing as C: on a Mac, I guess that's why they didn't come across. The actual underlying Word files that they pointed to should still work though.

I made the changes as best as I know to be correct. It is still not working but it might after I restart it. I can't do it now because I am updating the software. I still have about 30m remaining.

I checked all the options to check for updates, download, install etc.. but I still had to manually initiate the update. If I had the options checked, why do I still need to do it myself, if I have it plugged in?

Something is anything....any time I am typing an email, a reply etc... Can we change it so that it deletes continuously while we have our finger on the delete button? Or, do we always have to click it for every letter and space that needs to be deleted?

I ll get a usb and try to move them that way.

I found a reference online to the Notes coordinating on iCloud and I followed the instructions but when I tap on Notes from my MacBook, it is empty and does not have the details from notes that I have on my iPhone. I checked my phone and it is up to date with the software.

I restarted the MacBook after downloading the recent updates and it still does not work.

On you iphone, open Settings > Notes > Accounts and see what is listed. Then open the settings for Notes on your Mac.

It sounds like iCloud may not be turned on either side or you’re Mac is syncing notes to an email account rather than iCloud.

This is what I have....

I don't use the gmail account that much and I did not know that it was syncing with my iPhone.
If I turn off contacts, my iPhone says I need to delete the gmail account.
I don't think I would lose any functionality if I did, but I wonder what others do?

I restarted my Mac and my iPhone but nothing has changed.

Is it necessary to have an email account registered with the iPhone?

TIA

Lots of people use both options, you don’t need to delete gmail.

You just need to make sure on the iPhone you are choosing where your notes are created.

What accounts are listed when you look at Notes in your iPhone settings?

Ok so if your iPhone is using Gmail to sync notes. Open Notes on your Mac, Click on Notes in the menu bar and open settings and make sure under accounts Gmail is syncing notes for you.

Are you talking about keyboard auto-repeat? I suspect you're just not holding down the key long enough, but you can change the delay and repeat speed in the macOS system settings.
