copy between iTunes and iPad wirelessly

Hello,

I am kind of a newby on Apple stuff and have just bought myself an iPad2. I have installed iTunes on my PC and have enabled home sharing. I can see my library content in the iPod app on my iPad wirelessly on my local wifi. Now, I want to do something that seems quite obvious (to me) and that is to move songs from iTunes to iPad v.v. I can do this with the iPad connected to the PC, but I want to do this wireless from my couch (and if possible also on the road)

I know we now have iCloud, but as far as I can tell, you must sit behind you're PC (or Mac) to make choices as to what music you want to sent into the (i)cloud. Is it even possible to make selections in the iTunes library what to sync into the iCloud?

If this is at all possible from the iPad (on local wifi of even from Internet) I would be o so happy.

You need to setup wireless sync, plenty of threads on here about it.

Yes, but..

I know of wireless sync. It's not working on my home PC now, because it is still running XP and I read somewhere you need vista or Win7 for that. But once I have this running (planning on a replacement to Mac can I than choose what music songs to sync between iPad and Mac from my ipad, sitting on the couch, so wirelessly?

in iTunes 10.5, when you have your ipad plugged in physically do you get the following options on your screen? (it says iphone here, but it should say ipad)

Turn it on, and sync via usb on last time.

Then you should be seeing this kind of thing in your ipad general settings

yes its possible, when its paired you will see your iphone/ipd under devices in itunes (just like if its connected by wire) and you can do what you like to it.

AAH Now I see what you want to do, then no not via wireless sync on the ipad itself, but you can retrieve any of your itunes purchases from the cloud on the ipad.

Mmm, I don't think so. you could do "back to my pc" using vnc or logmein to remote control from your ipad.

I've set up a number of smart playlists that refresh dynamically when new content appears in itunes (tvshows/podcasts etc), so thats working for me.

It seems so obvious to want this:

You're sitting on you're couch, browsing you're itunes library through home sharing. Then you see that cool CD from 4 years back and think: I want to take that with me on my trip tomorrow.

Then you just want to drag-n-drop that CD to you're iPad, right there and then.

AFAIK this is not possible without resorting to stuff like VNC to take over you're Mac (or walking up 2 staires to get to you're Mac in your study).

Even with iCloud, you need to be sitting in front of you're PC/Mac to make the selection. (if it is at all possible to have only a part of you're library in the cloud that is).

I think when all your content is in icloud (using itunes match or whatever), this all become mute, as you can download direct from itunes to ipad.

I agree, but it looks like iCloud is an all-or-nothing thing. You cannot (AFAICS) choose to have only a part of your library pushed into the iCloud. I would like to have some calendars in the cloud, but some not. I would like to have some documents in the cloud, but some not, etc. Same goes for music.

Then there is this privacy thingie. There are people out there who don't like their data pushed into a cloud where god knows who can do god knows what with it. I have browsed the iCloud terms-of-use (have you?) and there are some scary parts in there..
