Before anyone starts, i intend to use this for a legal purpose, im not selling them or anything.. I just bought an imac with superdrive. I want to copy dvd's on the mac, but have seen a few ways to do it that seem complicated and need to buy several softwares to do it. I just switched, and on my pc, i use dvd x copy xpress, and its really easy. So how can i do it with a mac? Also if it is possible, will it be faster to do on my mac, or should i just stick with my 2.4 ghz pc to do the dvd copying.

Forum search, please! This topic comes up at least twice a week and has been answered over and over again.

MacTheRipper and Popcorn (Roxio) is what I use.

I'll explain. Just use Mac The Ripper to upload the movie to your machine (it can be found on version tracker), it will have a Video TS folder within the movie folder. Then you get the program Popcorn and select the video TS folder and then hit burn. It will compress the movie automatically and then burn it. It takes about 45 minutes to compress and depending on your burner it takes a few minutes to burn.

After I upload the movie to my machine using MTR, can I just use iDVD to burn instead of spending $50 on Popcorn?

Lucky8, you need something to compress the video_TS flies. such as DVD2oneX or Popcorn, then you need to burn i.e. Toast 6 or (since I don't have popcorn) some other way like a disc image. Don't forget to put in an audio_ts file (empty) so as certain dvd players can read it. Peace, Dodger
