Does anyone know how you can transfer your iPhone voice memos by cable to a Mac?

In the past this would be done through iTunes. I still have High Sierra on my Mac Pro and iTunes running. Some articles say you have to check the "include voice memos" box, but it doesn't copy my memos to my Mac, even if it's checked.

I think this is rather if you'd like voice memos to be copied to your iPhone - even if so many articles claim the opposite.

Other options are of course syncing over the cloud, etc.

I'm looking for a cable solution. In the past it has always worked through iTunes. What hasn't worked in the past years was that those copied voice memos get removed from the iPhone. That was the first thing that started creating a mess.

Thanks community :)

If you are using iCloud data sharing, then the voice memos app on your Mac can see the same files as the phone.

Yup, I know this, but they take a lot of space so I’d like to have them somewhere else than on my boot drive.

That was possible by choosing the location of the iTunes library on older Mac OS versions.

I think that’s no longer possible? Can you not have them synced to a specific place?

You could move them after they are synced but I don't know of a way to sync to an arbitrary location.
