I have a DVD I made a long time ago and I need to copy it. Could I just drag the Video TS folder to the empty DVD? to copy it and make it playable in a DVD player.

Got Toast? Use that.
Otherwise, you can try and use Disk Utility to make a master copy (a disk image) and then reburn that image.
