Copying Apps out of iTune 8?

Is it possible to copy a free application out of iTunes (8.0) then transfer it into the appropriate folder of iTunes on another computer? Or will it know it wasn’t bights from a iTunes store account on the second computer?

(i.e for programmes like Netshare that are removed from the store, can it be distributed to others without hacking the phone itself)

Every App is recorded by user account. If both computers use the same account/login then you will be good to go. My wife and I use two different laptops, yet we log in to the same iTunes account. She just downloaded the Apps I had already purchased and was not charged for them again.

If you have a different account then it will not work.

As I am sure most people did over the first month or two after the app store became available, I downloaded far too many ridiculous and pointless apps just to see what they were like (some free, some not free; some completely ridiculous, some only slightly ridiculous)...

If I wanted to clean up my list of apps so that it contains virtually nothing more than the apps I want synced to my iPhone (instead of a huge multi-page list that requires scrolling), how would I go about removing the 'Non-Select' apps from the list of apps without permanently deleting them, so that if I decide at one point in the future to add them back, I can easily do so?

Any thoughts?

are you on a mac? If you are right click the app and delete but don't put the files in the trash. The app won't be in iTunes but will remain in the app folder in finder.

I think that's what he didn't want. A big list of apps sitting in iTunes that he didn't want to use.

Have you looked inside your ~/Music/iTunes/Mobile Applications directory?
I doubt that modifying the contents of this directory while iTunes is running is a good idea.

after you delete an app in itunes you get this message, just keep the files.
if you want them back in itunes open the app from the app folder!!
your not modifying the contents of anything.
