HI there,
I have been trying to copy a large bunch of files from one drive to another, but I keep getting asked to authenticate, and each time, the process goes back to the beginning like a never ending loop..

I have an image of cccloned drive and I am mounting the image to then extract adn copy the files to another drive.

Is ther a way I can force this to happen without needing to authenticate all the time...?

Kind Regards
Rossco

Log in with a user that has Administrator privileges.
In the Finder select the file, Get Info and check the permissions to your user to be able to Read & Write.

Be sure that the persimmons setting applies to all enclosed items.
Otherwise try with disk utility to check and repair permission on the drive.
If these don't work then Google the terminal commands to change permissions and or copy by using the terminal.

Still can't acheive a copy of multiple files/folders to another folder

Hi again,
I am astill having problems copying files from one location to another without getting multiple errors or asking to authentication of every file and i the end, just fails miserably.

I have a .dmg file that contains my CCC cloner images and am wanting to extract the contents to another disk as the original disk failed.

I doulbe click the dmg file and it oepnes with all the contents fine, but when I go to copy the files to another drive, I always get a equthentication prompt, which once I have authenticated, goes back the to the start of counting the number and size of the files to be copied but donw not copy any.

I have made sure I have full permissions etc, but still get the prompt.

Is there way I can force the copy etc?

I have also tried restoring the files using disk utility, but this does not complete as the message comes up, when verifying the dmg file that it can't be verified as it is in use....well DUH of course it is in use I am trying to restore it....(almost takes me back the the old PC days with Windoze ;-)

Can sometone please tell me what I should be doing or what I am doing wrong etc?

Kind regards
Rossco

Use the terminal, Google the commands get familiar with it.
Repair or provide permission. Copy the files.

Or try a small number of files at a time in the finder.

Copying now :)

Hi thanks for getting back to me, in the end I figured it was path finder having its own way of dealing with things, went back and worked it using finder and not path finder and files copying across now.

I also gave myself maximum rights and is working for this now.

I must remember to take those maximum rights away from my profile when finished.

Thanks for our help and that was going to be my next options..

Kind Regards
Rossco
