Copying songs from old iPhone to new iPhone

Will iTunes transfer all of my songs to my new iPhone through backup and restore? If I remember correctly, the songs don't seem to get transferred. Is there some trick I need to know?

were the songs purchased through iTunes? if they weren't you'll have to manually do it and plug it in. its easy but it just takes an extra step after you restore.

It depends on how the songs were loaded to your old iPhone previously, under which app...

An iTunes Backup doesn't contain songs that you transferred to a device using iTunes in the first place (because iTunes expects these songs to be present in the iTunes library anyway so there is no need to back them up from the phone unless they are purchases not yet in the iTunes library).
