Probably similar speeds, however notebook hard drives are notoriously slower than desktop ones, as is notebook RAM. I have a feeling there are larger differences in speed due to those factors than the CPUs.
Standard notebook hard drives and memory are behind what is currently standard for desktops. I'm was wondering about the comparison of the CPU 's itself, Core 2 Duo 2.16 Merom VS Core 2 Duo 2.16 Conroe.
In general Conroes are faster because they have a 1066MHz FSB while Meroms use a 667MHz FSB. Conroe's also clock higher. In the case of the 2.16GHz ones though, the performance is actually very similar because even though the 2.16GHz T7400 only has a 667MHz FSB it has a large 4MB cache that buffers that. The 2.13GHz E6400 only has a 2MB cache so the extra bandwidth from the 1066MHz FSB is important in keeping it fed.
Here are actual benchmarks done with Merom using a desktop motherboard (mobile-derivative) so the setups are very similar.
