Hi,
I currently own a first generation intel imac 2.0 core duo, and was wondering if it would be possible to swap out the processor at a later point in time for the core 2 duo chip? thanks. --ray--

Yes, you theoretically should be able to swap out your Core Duo for a Core 2 Duo (Merom) chip, because they are pin- and platform-compatible. That said, it's possible your mobo might not recognize it without the EFI equivalent of a BIOS update. I haven't heard of anyone trying this yet.
