Agreed. It took me quite a while to get my head around CoreAudio.
Surprisingly, there's no book on CoreAudio. Never has been.

Although it seems like someone finally realized there was a huge hole in the market and decided to get to writing..

This is going to be released June 21st. Who knows if it'll be any good, but I'm excited to find out. Like you noted, the Apple documentation is pretty awful. Good luck! :)

Hey guys, Core Audio is pretty hard, but I wanna learn it. Apple documentation really sucks. Anyone knows a good Core Audio book?

Nice, definitely getting this. Hopefully it covers audio units.

My advice as a CA newbie would be to read Apple's documentation from their SDK, read through the SDK code, and search the Core Audio mailing list at lists.apple.com (lots of good info there).

Ack, no kidding. I made a tiny iphone app for my fiance and Valentines day, and I had to make 3x 20second audio clips and fire NSTimers to play them in order. Because I couldn't find any easy to modify sample code or classes to play a longer than 30second audio clip.
