core solo mini > core 2 duo mini

i recently purchased a core solo mini 1.5Ghz, im coming into the ownership of a 2Ghz C2D chip to upgrade it, i've read the tutorials and such on google but cant find reference to if the heatsink or cooling need upgrading, i've also read that a core solo is basically a core duo with 1 core disabled which led me to believe that stock parts would be sufficient, has anyone got any ideas?

not quiet , the 1.5 solo is only a 1.66 solo which has been downclocked for stable running

I think all the intel Mac minis (2006-2009) are the same (except firmware change for C2D), so not sure why the cooling on the solo would be worse or different than my C2D 2.0.

As you should already know - you can not boot your machine with more than 2GB of RAM installed, even if you install a C2D.

yeah, the stock stuff works fine. i did the same Swap back in 2006 with the same system (1.5 solo) and it's been running ever since.

my two cents... watch all the little wires you need to remove to get the logic board out, pull on the connectors and not on the wires. also, be careful getting the heatsink white push pins out, the are easy to break. last would be that the physical top of the chip is different (pics in the old thread), so you will need to remove the old apple thermal pad, and use some good compound when you put it back together like artic silver 5 or mx-2 or something. best of luck.

i have dropped in T7400 and 7600's in 1.83ghz models/
